Jianghai Hu is a highly accomplished violist with a rich background in performance, education, and adjudication. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Oklahoma, he previously earned a Master of Music from the same institution and a Bachelor of Music from the Wuhan Conservatory of Music. Jianghai has studied under distinguished teachers, including Mark Neumann and Min Long, and has participated in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Wayne Brooks, Susan Dubois, and Cynthia Phelps.

 

As an educator, Jianghai teaches private and group lessons at the DFW Institute of Musical Advancement (DIMA) and serves as a private instructor and sectional coach for Frisco ISD schools. His students have achieved notable success, including placements in All-Regional Orchestras, reflecting his dedication to their development as musicians.

 

Jianghai is an active performer, appearing regularly as a section violist with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra and holding principal viola positions with the Texas Music Festival Orchestra and the University of Oklahoma Symphony and Opera Orchestras. His extensive performance experience spans solo, orchestral, and chamber music settings, showcasing his versatility and artistry.

 

Beyond his teaching and performance, Jianghai has contributed to the music community as an adjudicator, including judging for the Sonatina-Sonata-Baroque Festival. His participation in music festivals highlights his ongoing commitment to professional excellence and engagement with the broader musical community.
